Dear Doctor,



Pearl: Ask patients to pay for scheduled treatment PRIOR to the appointment day. This will significantly decrease cancellations and no-shows.
Reason: If patients have not made a financial contribution toward their treatment prior to the day of their appointment, they have nothing to lose - literally - by cancelling or not showing up at all. Always ask for pre-payments or deposits (according to your own internal credit guidelines) on the day the treatment is scheduled.
